Suggested steps for changing VTScada server from one PC to another PC without losing all the data

In one of our project, we want to move our VTScads project from one PC to another without losing all the data and validate license.

If I want to move, what are proper ways or suggested steps?

I know how to deactivate and activate license when we move from one PC to another. I would like to know about other steps that we need to take care of. Thanks.

If the new machine has never had VTScada installed there is a 30 day grace period before it is required to activate VTScada. Install VTScada on the new machine. Connect it to the same network as the old machine. Use add new, advanced, and 'Get from workstation'. Add the new machine to the server list (I'm assuming the current machine is on the server list, it not add it before doing a get from workstation). If the Historian Status widget has been drawn, watch for it to settle, otherwise give it time - the more tags, higher scan rate, longer the app has been running - the longer the wait. This will move all the data history and alarm history. Remove the old machine from the server list. Run up a HDV to check all data history has moved been moved. If good move the new machine to the top of the server list. Let both run until happy with the new machine. Deactivate the license on the old machine and activate on the new.

What's noted above works well and allows for a seamless transition which is great. We would recommend that you be sure to use the same version of VTScada on the new PC and upgrade it to the current version after you have the app synced to the new PC.

If, for whatever reason, someone is reading this who can NOT run both servers at the same time, you can always copy the information from the application folder (Default follows C:\VTScada\AppNameNoSpaces). Past it where you like on your new PC, then, with VTScada installed on the new PC, add a new application, select advanced, and select to add an existing application. Even if you've upgraded to a new version of VTScada when going through this process, the application you added will be automatically upgraded to work with the new version of VTScada when you first launch it.
