VTSC desktop client adding port 80 to URL

I am very new to SCADA we are using the vtsx client to connect to the server. On some of the Windows 10 desktops when the URL to the server is typed in the program automatically adds :80 to the end and will not connect. i.e. the url is http://15.15.15.15 as soon as we hit connect it shows up a http://15.15.15.15:80

The service is running on port 80 on the server.

These computers DO NOT have KB4056892 installed and are on 10.0.16299.

I can get to the URL using IE, it pops up the authorization underneath the main window so users have to minimize/move the main window to see it.

What is causing the VTSX program to add port 80 and then not connect?

Hey, I don't think it has anything to do with the port. the :80 is essentially assumed if not present in a URL. It's kind of like how the browser automatically inserts /index.html at the end of the URL for many web pages.

In your case, I expect some of the computers with issues are seeing a recent Windows 10 bug which has caused some issues with Active X. We have patched this and you can install the patched VIC on the computers having issues by using the installer found here

Before installing the VIC you can test this by using internet explorer (not edge) to connect to the VTScada server on the affected computers. If that works, then the above patched VIC will work for you.

I hope this helps. If you still have issues, please follow up with me.

As an aside, the Windows 10 patch has been released to correct this issue. You might be able to get those computers to update their Windows 10 to resolve the issue. I don't think the patch has been fully rolled out but if you request the update, hopefully you will get it. If that is the case, you won't need to update the VIC on these machines.

Thanks for the response.

When I clicked on the link it did not work, can you please verify it.

Do you know the KB article for the update. We control what updates get pushed out so I want to be sure to test it before I roll it out.

Sorry, the forum automatically seems to add a prefix to the link. I think it was because it was a ftp and not a http address. Copy the following to your browser to download the patched VIC installer: ftp://ftp.trihedral.com/SupportTools/JENNIFER/VICSetup.zip

As for the KB article for the patched version of Windows, I don't have that answer but will update my post if I can find out.
