My name is Joseph Rhodes, I work as an electronic technician for the City of Tuscaloosa's wastewater treatment plant. The other day, our chemist sent me an email asking for data about the HCR Creek Flow. I was lucky that I have a co-worker who's about to retire point me in the right direction. I was able to find the data I needed for our chemist. I had to go through a few hoops to get that data. At first, I tried exporting the data into a CSV file. When I opened the file using Excel. There was only information I did not need the rest was hashtagged out. I had to manually write the average creek flow numbers for certain dates of the month then hand it off to our chemist. I was wondering about that excel add-on for VTScada called Data Retrieval. I remember being part of a class during the last VTScadaFest in Orlando, but I did not remember enough to utilize that add on to pull information I needed from VTScada.

I've uploaded some pictures to better illustrate everything above:

The first picture is a highlighted screenshot of the data I needed to give to our chemist. The rest of the information was not needed.

The second picture is a screenshot of VTScada - Data Retrieval Add-On. You have to create a connection, which I have done so using my VTScada credentials. It never seems to connect to VTScada, so maybe I have the wrong server address. However, I'm not entirely sure that I do considering I use that server address anytime I want to access VTScada through VTScada Internet Client or Google Chrome. As you might see, it has been trying to connect to the server. It's been trying to connect for the last 10 minutes.

You seem to be using an IP address in the URL for the connection to VTScada.

As the connection from Excel to VTScada MUST be over HTTPS, that means that the x.509 certificate on the VTScada server MUST have an entry in the Subject or Subject Alternative Name fields that match the URL used.

Presumably the VTScada server does have a name registered in DNS that is also present in the certificate and that should be used in the connection URL.
