Using RS-232

I'm currently lining up hardware to experiment with VTSCADA. I'll be using an Arduino Nano for the Control and looking to communicate with VTSCADA.

Can I use the RS-232 protocol or would it be advisable to use RS-485?

The answer will provide me with a direction on the communication interface hardware.

Kind Regards - Aaron

Both will work, this is more of a hardware/enviroment relevent requirment than a VTScada one - though I have only ever interfaced with RS-485.

The serial port tag references RS-232. Trihedral seems to recommend ethernet to serial converters though for redundancy (if that's required) - see https://www.vtscada.com/help/Content/D_TroubleShoot/D_Converters.htm
