Tag types and Excel table names

Just a heads up that Excel has a limit of 31 characters for table names. This means that if you make a tag type with a name longer than 31 characters and export the tags to Excel, you will have a problem.

Excel will tag the tag type name and rename it to Sheet1. Or truncate it some other fashion. You make changes to the tags in that tag type and import the changes. Since VTScada can no longer find the original table name, it will assume that type has been removed and delete all the tags. Since there is no matching type for the newly named table, it will not import it either.

You can recover the tags using the Version Control but it can be startling. If you really need to use the long name, use Access for the import/export.
