I configured an ethernet port and CIP driver for a CompactLogix PLC. When I create a new tag of type "I/O and Calculations" the tag browser option does not appear on the Read Address field.

I ran a Driver communications summary report and the % average Quality was 68.8 and average response time is 0.002 which I would assume would mean I am communicating with the PLC.

Any idea why I can't browse tags???

68.8% sounds pretty low.

If you weren't communicating at the time of opening the tag, I don't believe the browse for tags options would be available.

The Port Tag and the IO Driver tag should have a steady value of 0, or you may have network issues. I would not use a Polling Driver tag in line with a CIP device--it seems to cause many issues.

Here is some additional information:
The processor type is 5069-L306ER CompactLogix
When I type the IP address into a browser I bring up the PLC information page fine.
I am communicating with the device from another SCADA system without any issues.
The device seems to connect and then disconnect again very rapidly every 50 seconds or so.
The same 4 entrys appear in the log every 50 seconds or so:

The CIP driver has to upload its tag database on connection, so you don't want that connection to close. That appears to be what its doing repeatedly, never finishes, then loses connection. Definitely takes on the order of ~1 minute over a fast link for a big tag database.

Have you modified the settings on the the driver or the port tag? Are you going through a polling driver? Is the PLC experiencing minor/major faults? Are you getting any valid data at all?

Also is the connection to SCADA over a good Ethernet link?
